Autism- Alternative Therapies

At this writing, it is April, which is National Autism Awareness Month. I've seen two popular talk shows cover the topic, and like most rather controversial topics, the "other side" was barely mentioned. I agree that we need to get information about autism out to the public so that parents can recognize the signs early and get help. But like most health crises, we aren't being completely honest with ourselves if all we talk about are therapies which "train" autistic children to a higher level of functioning.

Unfortunately, it is difficult to solve a puzzle when it has many solutions, and when you are looking at many different models as keys. This is what autism is. Because autism is basically a list of symptoms, there is no way of telling exactly how many different factors are involved in causing these symptoms. So the solution is not that easy to find. It doesn't help that mainstream medicine tends to shun or ignore environmental factors in autism as well as other diseases and syndromes.

This page is dedicated to information that might help parents or family members in finding solutions that have not come from their doctor. We will add links as we come across them, and we invite you to share links and stories of alternative therapies with us so that we can add them here. I met a woman with three autistic children who were damaged by "hot lot" vaccines in California. She was able to use alternative therapies such as heavy metal removal to get all three of them to such high functioning levels that one had Asperger's, and the other two were diagnosed with ADHD. Before she began treatment, they were non-responsive and couldn't do much beyond drool. There are other stories out there like this and we want to hear them!
