Asthma Home Remedies
Got Asthma?
What is asthma anyway? Isn’t it just a name given to symptoms that a
lot of people have? Let’s examine the symptoms for a sec…
-
Wheezing
-
Chest tightness
-
Coughing
-
Shortness of breath
-
Rapid breathing
Now, if I have these symptoms, but I never go to the doctor and get
diagnosed, do I still have asthma? Isn’t it true that doctors are the
“experts” who can bundle up our symptoms and give it a name…and quickly
give us the drug to fix it? What if we are our own best doctors, and
realize that drugs don’t fix anything, only addict us to them and make
things worse? What if we know that drugs just mask the symptoms, and
they don’t do anything to fix our “asthma”?
I ask a lot of questions, I know. It has perplexed me how many people
jump on drugs faster than they can pronounce them, but when you give
them information to actually improve their symptoms, they run. Do you
want to know why?
Once we are given a diagnosis, we *just know* that if there was
something out there that truly worked, everyone would already be doing
it, and nobody would be using the drugs that were created for our
disease. Asthma, for instance. EVERYBODY knows that you have to take
steroids and carry an inhaler everywhere you go. Right? There must not
be any other option since all those other people are doing it. And when
those people get sicker, it’s the disease progressing, NOT the
medication that they’ve been taking for so many years.
Did you know that you don’t have to HAVE asthma to have an asthma
attack? It is possible to be allergic to a pesticide, for instance,
react to it with an asthma attack, recover, and go about your life with
never another attack? So what is the difference between people who HAVE
asthma and those who have an asthma attack?
Let’s go back to the beginning. The only people who HAVE asthma are
those who have been diagnosed with it. What if you have some symptoms,
but not all? What if your symptoms are very mild? What if they only
happen in response to one particular trigger? What if just breathing has
become impossible? It’s okay…you ALL have asthma. Right? Are you seeing
my point? A doctor sees you, says, “Oh, yes, we have had lots of other
people in here with the same symptoms, and we called those symptoms
‘asthma.’ You have asthma!” Doesn’t that make you feel great?!
What if instead, he looked at each of your symptoms, examined the
triggers, and found a way to prevent the symptoms? What if all disease
was handled like this? Why isn’t it?
Unfortunately, doctors are not taught to figure out what is causing
symptoms. They are taught what drugs temporarily get rid of the
symptoms. So inventing the disease “asthma” packages up your breathing
problems in a nice little box called “asthma” so that the doctor can
prescribe you the newest and latest “asthma drugs.”
One thing many people don’t understand is what they are doing to
cause their symptoms, mainly because most doctors are ignorant to the
many chemicals and toxins we are inundating ourselves with. (Then there
are the people with asthma who smoke…I won’t go there.)
To help with asthma and other health problems (including cancer) do
the following:
-
Use personal care products that do not go overboard with
fragrances and other chemicals that
do you no good. We use
Usana’s shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel. (As an added
bonus, they are all Paraben-free.) Do not use what we call
“mainstream” health and beauty products. This includes make-up. Our
favorite is Jane Iredale.
-
Begin
making your own cleaning products. This is imperative. DO NOT
CLEAN YOUR HOME WITH COMMERCIALLY PREPARED CLEANING PRODUCTS. EVER.
PERIOD.
-
Do not use fabric softener. Here is
why. Vinegar in a Downy ball works very well.
-
Shower in filtered water. Chlorine does more damage inhaled than
it does when consumed in water. If you are on well water, there
still may be things in your water that you should not be breathing
in. Filter it to be sure.
-
Get rid of your carpet. Whoever invented carpet should be shot.
Well, they are probably already dead, and they probably died from
having carpets. Not only does carpet harbor anything and everything,
it also outgases fun things like formaldehyde.
-
It goes without saying; do not smoke and avoid second-hand smoke
like the plague.
-
Avoid known allergens as much as possible. (Duh, I know...)
And these are the two most important things; if you ONLY did these
two you would probably get rid of your asthma completely. (In order of
importance.)
1. Use
nutritional supplements. If you have been searching on the
internet, you may have come across some people who have had some success
with various supplements. Typically, magnesium is mentioned. What most
people don’t realize is that the body begins functioning improperly when
we are
not giving it what it needs. Don’t treat your symptoms with a specific
supplement. Face the fact that
we are all nutritionally deficient in a
multitude of vitamins and minerals, and take what the experts have shown
you need. We have seen supplements work in 3 year olds, and we
have seen them work in adults suffering from asthma for decades. The
reason some people say that “vitamins don’t work for asthma” is because
they have not taken high quality nutritional supplements. Not all
vitamins are adequate, and most don’t have appropriate levels to
synergistically work in your body to prevent and get rid of symptoms.
2. Use an
Airwise air purifier. Since most attacks and most asthma is caused
by environmental toxins or allergens, using an Airwise air purifier
helps by removing the toxins and allergens from the air. Sleep with an
Airwise in your bedroom, and take it to work (or send it to school with
your child). Isn’t it funny how you
will spend hundreds of dollars on medication that isn’t working, but
right now you are balking at spending the same money on an air purifier
because you just *know* it isn’t going to work?! Why not try it? I know from
personal
experience that it does what it says it does.
No matter how bad your symptoms are, doing all of the above WILL make
a difference. Our bodies don't stop functioning because they are
deficient in prescription drugs. You need to give your body what it
NEEDS to work correctly, not mask the symptoms. Do all of the above,
watch your asthma improve, and slowly, with your doctor's approval,
begin weaning off of your meds.
