Amby Baby Hammock
Do
you do this? Do you look at the things that are available for
babies today and wish you had them when you had your baby? It is
amazing how things change in just months or years, even in
between the births of your children. My babies were 19 months
apart and it was as if a whole new world of products was
available by the time my second came along. The good thing is
that usually the products have been improved, so I guess I can't
complain. I have often found myself wishing that I could have
another baby just to be able to use all the new stuff!
The
Amby Baby Hammock is a HUGE improvement as a sleeping
location for baby. Just imagine the difference between a flat,
hard crib mattress, and the comfy, bendable surface of the Amby
and it seems hard to believe that we could do such a primitive
thing as lay our babies down in a crib! I think that the Amby
was around when I had my babies, but I did not know to look for
it. It would have been REALLY nice to know about it because my
son was one of those nightmare sleepers. Let me draw you a
picture.
It would take us HOURS to get him to close his
eyes. Because we were so tired, we would immediately try to lay
him down in his crib if he happened to fall asleep. If you are
suffering like we did, you know that this is a huge mistake.
Every time, he would open his eyes, and scream. And scream,
scream, scream. We had to start all over. Often, I would fall
asleep with him in the recliner. Oh, that's another story!
Sometimes I would HAVE to sit down with him because my legs were
tired from all the pacing. If he had fallen asleep, he would
wake up as soon as he felt his feet hit my lap! What WAS it with
this kid? Every night that I thought I had him figured out, he
would change the game the next day. And from what I've heard,
there are other babies out there just as devious!
Does this sound like your little one? Did he
or she also attend the "how to drive mom crazy" convention in
utero? Lucky for you, you have a chance to solve the problem. No
matter what your baby is fussing about, the Amby Hammock is
likely to help him.
How Does the Amby
Baby Hammock Work?
The
Amby Baby Hammock is a hammock with a thin mattress, which
hangs from a metal stand that fits just about anywhere. The
hammock is tilted upward so that the baby's head is elevated
above
her feet. The hammock surrounds the baby, providing a womb-like
feeling that babies love so much. The hammock hangs by a spring,
which helps gently swing the hammock if baby begins stirring.
Because the head is elevated, the Amby Hammock helps with many
discomforts, such as:
The Amby Hammock is known for improving sleep for
babies, not just by quantity of hours, but quality of sleep as well. I'm
betting you could use a good night sleep, too? The Amby Hammock is NOT
just for babies! It's for moms and dads who need their sleep as well. I
remember the sleepless nights, and in daylight hours I could not think
straight. It's very hard to take care of a baby or work when you can't
remember when your baby last ate, or where you left him last. (That is,
until the screaming starts back up...)
Amby Hammock and SIDS
Probably one of the biggest concerns for most new
parents is SIDS, better known as crib death. Because the design of the
Amby Hammock promotes babies sleeping on their backs, and also because
the sling fabric is made from 100% cotton, the Amby Hammock is
considered a SIDS safe sleeping arrangement. There are also no fire
retardants used in the manufacture of the hammock, which is also good
news in regards to crib death. (See the
toxic gas theory for crib death.)
Amby Hammock Testimony
I hope the above information is helpful and that you
are able to use an Amby to get a good night's sleep for once! Here is a
note from a happy Amby customer whose baby is pictured above.
Dear Amby Baby,
Our son Luke has reflux, and would only sleep on one
of us for the first two months of his life. Before he was born, I had
read about Amby Baby and wondered who would need such a bed like that!
After many distressing nights, I read about you in Dr. Sears’ Baby Sleep
Book, and decided to buy one. Well, thank goodness I did. Luke is 14
weeks old, and now sleeps 6 hours, eats, then sleeps another 3! It is so
wonderful. When he starts to fuss before he totally is awakened, the
Amby rocks him back to sleep. We are so grateful. I work in a Pediatric
Emergency room, and whenever I hear parents talking of reflux or poor
sleepers, I whip out my pictures of the Amby, and tell them how
wonderful it is. It did take him a night or two to get used to it, but
now, he sleeps well EVERY night. Thank you again! This will be the first
bed for our next baby, for sure. A picture of happy Luke is attatched!
Very Gratefully, Emily and Paul Artola (especially
Luke!)
